What's Here?

This page describes a collection of various PHP packages and tools that I have evaluated or at least looked at. It should be obvious that it's impossible to evaluate all PHP tools on the net at this time (November 2002). But as I examined and compared various tools for my own purposes, I wanted to capture the information in a form that would be easy for me to refer to. Hopefully it is also helpful for other people.

I use these myself ...

ccBrowserInfo: ccBrowserInfo is a simple PHP class for doing HTTP client user agent (browser) detection. I use it instead of phpSniff because it's simpler -- I don't need all the additional features of phpSniff.
ccSiteStyle: ccSiteStyle is a PHP browser-compensating dynamic style sheet. Font sizes and font families are adjusted so as to minimize differences in appearance across browsers and platforms.

Template Tools

Since its inception, PHP has been widely used to provide a template capability to HTML authors. As a result, there are many PHP template packages out there.

php_templates: php_templates is hosted on SourceForge and includes unusually good documentation. Most projects have no documentation at all. Unlike most packages, php_templates can be built as a server extension which must be compiled and installed.
